Baby Shower Thank You...........................

Hi everyone.............

Here is what I have been working on this week: 2 orders for baby thank you cards.  One for a friend and the other for my niece.  It has been so fun making these cards.

The cards are 3X4".  I used a variety of Close To My Heart printed papers for the backgrounds.  It might be hard to see in the picture but the larger white piece was embossed with the cuttlebug dotted swiss folder.  The "water" coming from the elephant trunk are pink bitty sparkles from WalMart.  The "balls" on the giraffe "horns" are Close To My Heart bronze bitty brads.  The stamps are from the Close To My Heart "It's A Zoo" set.  The pink grosgrain ribbon is from WalMart.

The coordinating envelopes were cut with the Close To My Heart exclusive Art Philosophy cricut cartridge.

This is the box I made for my friend's order.  It holds 25 cards and evelopes.  The sides were plain with blush ink brushed on the edges.  You can see the lace around the top of the box in the first picture.  The lace peeks out from under the cover when on.  The box cover is again brushed with blush ink.  A cuttlebug embossed layer covers the top.  The flower was cut with the Art Philosophy cartridge, The "leaf" layer is inked with Sweet Leaf ink and the flower petals are inked with varing intensities of Blush ink.  The flower sections were then heat embossed with clear embossing powder.  Clear and pink bitty sparkles alternate around the flower.  The bow is attached to look like it extends around the box but is attached to the inside of the cover.

I hope you are having a wonderful beginning to 2012!

Happy stampin' and scrappin'!

Card Club.......

I am a member of a local stamping group called the "Ink Spots".  We meet once a month and bring a predetermined themed card to exchange with another member of the group.  We meet tomorrow and the card is to be Valentine themed.  So here is the card I made to exchange............

The pocket card was made with white cardstock.  The layered hearts and the layered flower were cut with the Clsoe To My Heart exclusive Cricut cartridge "Art Philosophy".  The medallion on the front of the card is also cut with the "Art Philosophy" cartridge.  The Close To My Heart stamps used were:  January 2012 Stamp of the month, "Mad About YOU" .  The ribbon and "bling" are from WalMart.

I brused the edges of the hearts and the pocket with CTMH "blush" ink.

The top heart and the medallion are adhered with dimentional foam.

The pocket scalloped edge was done with a Fiskers border punch.

The flower was coated with VersaMark watermark and then heat embossed with "a la mode" by Hampton Art red embossing powder.

I used the cuttlebug heart folder to emboss the front of the pocket before adhereing it to the back.

What are you doing for your Valentine cards?  Leave a note and let me know.  I would love to hear from you!

A New Year...........

Let's see if I can actually get this post saved!  I had one all written punched the wrong key and it wiped it all out!!!

Soooooooooooooo........................................

Happy New Year!  I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and that your coming year brings you everything you need and a big serving of what you want!

I haven't posted since the middle of October.  I guess I got too busy with preparing for the holiday craft fairs and whosh!  here we are into January!

In one of my last posts I had displayed a picture of a toilet paper roll and asked what you thought I made with it.  Well, here is the answer: toilet paper roll mini-albums.  Here is an example, with a brief description, of how I assembled the album.  I hope it will inspire you to try new, unusual materials in your crafting.

This album is made with three tp rolls.  Before assembling the album I painted the interior of the rolls (and over the ends) with a dark acrylic paint to give the album a finished look.  Make sure that you allow the paint to completely dry before proceeding so the sides don't stick together when you flatten the rolls.  Once the paint is dry flatten each roll using a bone folder or similar tool.
Cover each roll with desired scrapbooking paper.  I used the same paper on all of the pages of this particular album.
Embellish pages making areas to display pictures and journal.  I also used stamped sentiments.  There are two journaling spots attached with the green brad.  The top journaling spot swings away to expose the second spot below.

I punched two holes for the binding and tied the three tp rolls together with a variety of sheer ribbons.

For the "pockets" created by the folded tp roll I made "tags" for additional pictures and journaling.   On one of the tags I attached a tri-fold piece of chardstock so that even more pictures and journaling could be included in this mini-album.  This album has space for 11 photos and four spaces for journaling. Sheer ribbon was tied through the holes of the tags to provide a "handle" to pull the tags out of the album.

I really love making these fun little albums.  Ideas for use of these albums:  for a baby shower, bridal shower, newly engaged couple, Halloween pictures, Christmas gift, or for your special Valentine.

The paper, cardstock, stamps, ribbon and inks used in making this album are from Close To My Heart.
The corner punch is from Fiskars.

Please leave a comment.  I would love to hear from you and learn what unusual materials you use in making your creations.

Happy Scrappin'

Karen.
