ANOTHER BRIDE'S BOOK IN THE WORKS..........

Now that I am done with the CardMaker Magazine cardmaking crop challenges it's time to get back to the project I have been working on for a few weeks ......another Bride's Book.  I have been commissioned to make a book for a gal whose brother lives in Germany and got married there this past spring.  The couple have a one-year-old son named Benjamin.  Rather then write a description I will give you pictures............I haven't completed the entire book but wanted to share what I have done thus far.

Here's the cover.  The colors of the wedding were burgundy and a bright red.
The inside of the cover is a tag for the giver to write a note to her brother and sister-in-law.  The facing page holds an accordian tag holder.  It will hold 8 tags creating enough space for 16 3X5" photos or a combination of journaling and photos of the wedding.

The next set of pages are dedicated to Benjamin.  The pocket holds four large tags and the facing page is a frame for a favorite photo.  The sentiment says "sweet child".

I was asked to create space for photos of the extended families' visits to Germany to visit the little family.  This is a mini-album within a mini-album.  This little album has 16 pages and 7 tags which creates enough space to hold 30 3X5" photos or a combination of photos and journaling.

The couple will be coming back to Minnesota in September for a wedding reception so the last two pages will be devoted to that.  Which means I need to get cracking and get this book done!  I will post the entire book when it is completed.

Please leave a comment to let me know you stopped by .............Thanks!

Hope  you're having a scrappin' good day!

Another set of challenges................

Here are more of the CardMaker Magazine "Treat Yourself" cardmaking crop challenges I have completed.  I have one more to complete and I will have done all 12 challenges.  The trick is getting that last one done before midnight tonight...the deadline for completing the challenges to be in the drawings for each of the challenges.

So here we go................

"Pumpkin Pie" is the name of this challenge.  We were to create a card featuring pumpkins...............
This challenge is "eye candy" for all of the beautiful colors of fall.
The challenge for this card was to use a sketch as the base to create a card.  The button says Happy Birthday.

Now I am off to complete the last challenge.............let's see if I can get it done by the deadline...............................................

Please leave a comment to let me know that you stopped by.

CardMaker Magazine "Treat Yourself" cardmaking crop....continued

Hi friends and family...................

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.  It's nice to have some cooler weather.....makes it more enjoyable to be outside and enjoy the summer that is much to fast coming to an end.  BUT then we come to my favorite time of the year....FALL.
A time of vibrant, rich colors, crisp air, sparkling blue skies, the smell of burning leaves, the sound of crunching leaves beneath the feet..........ahhhhh.......

I have been busy working on the challenges for the CardMaker Magazine card crop over the weekend.   I have six more challenges to complete over the next couple of days and I am aiming to complete all of them by the deadline.  There are prizes that will be given away through a drawing for each challenge completed.  Elmer, as in the glue company, is providing all of the prizes.

So here are the next set of three challenges:

This challenge was to create a background by inking an embossing folder and running it through the embosser.  I love the way this turned out!  I made the flower out of circles by folding them into thirds creating a point at one end.  I attached them to another circle for the base.  I then added the brad, inked the edges and then heat embossed it with clear embossing powder.  The "frame" around the embossed layer is orange and brown cardstock that I distressed.  I added some of my handmade leaves and there you are, my inked embossed card!
This challenge was to create a "treat basket".  I used the template that was provided by the hostess for this challenge.  I stamped and "fussy" cut out the witch, bat, pumpkins, cat and broom.  Since the theme of this crop is "Treat Yourself", I put my chocolate in it and will keep it on my shelf in my craft room.  :-)  YUMMMMMMMM..........
This last challenge was to create a candy wrapper.  I cut a piece of desert sand cardstock just a bit longer then the candy bar and punched the ends.  I then ran it through the embosser using the pumpkin embossing folder and lightly sanded it to bring out the design.  (Close To My Heart cardstock has a white core which makes it possible to do this technique.)  I then made an orange flower out of punched scalloped circles and finally made the tag.  For the tag I stamped with clear Staz On embossing medium and then used clear embossing powder to create a clear design.  Then I rubbed the chocolate ink pad over the tag to bring out the design.  I added some ribbon and again some of my handmade leaves for a fall themed candy wrapper.

So off to complete more of the challenges.

I hope you are having a scrappin' good day!

You can "make my day" by letting me know you stopped by.....just leave a comment by clinking on "comment" below....it's right in front of the pencil.  THANKS!

Day One CardMaker Magazine Card Crop Challenges

Here are my day one challenge entries in the CardMaker Magazine Card Crop challenge.

This challenge was called: "A Box of Sunshine".   We were to make a pretty box of our choice.  I think this one may end up holding one of my books.

I made the box and top using two 12"X12" sheets of printed and lightly embossed chardstock from "The Formal Affair Stack" by DCWV.  The ribbon is from Really Reasonable Ribbon, the flourish is from Close To My Heart and I made the flower with Close To My Heart cardstock.  The key is from Cousin Corporation (I think I got it at Joann's.  It came on a card with four more keys.)  The glimmer mist I used on the rose is "Sheer SHIMMER Spritz" by TSUKINEKO and I know I got this at Joann's.  It comes boxed with a bottle of frost spritz.  I used Scotch brand double sided tape to make the box and adhere the ribbon around the cover of the box.  The Scotch brand tape states it is safe for photos and is cheaper then the tape you find in the scrapping aisle at WalMart. I found it in the office supply aisle.  The box is adhered with Liquid Glass from Close To My Heart.  I used Liquid Glass instead of tape because it holds more securely.

Here are pictures of the other two challenges.  I have presented them to you earlier but wanted them all together in this post.  So here they are!

THANKS FOR STOPPING BY MY LITTLE BLOG ..........

CardMaker Magazine Card Crop Challenge......

Hi friends and family,

I am participating in the CardMaker Magazine Card Crop Challenge that is taking place over the next four days.  Each day the hostesses of the challenge take turns putting out challenges to make a card or tag or even pretty boxes.  Each day there are three challenges to pick from or you can do as many as you want.

The first one I choose to do is the "3 tier" challenge.  The challenge is to use a 3 tier cake on your card and try to make it something other then the traditional wedding cake.  Well, one of my daycare moms recently had a baby girl so I decided to make a "birth  -  day" cake card to include with the gift I'm giving them.  Hope you like it;-)

I will be posting the challenge creations as I complete them.

Hope you had a scrappin' good day!

Another Bride's Book Completed.........

Following are pictures of a "Bride's Book" that I just completed for my Sister and brother-in-law, Nada and Daryl, for their niece Sarah who is getting married the end of September.

I used the Close To My Heart papers from the Sonoma paper packet.

The charms are: a cute shoe that symbolizes the bride's preparations for the wedding; a filigree heart symbolizing love; a ring symbolizing the promises made.
This tag in the front of the book is for Nada and Daryl to write a note to the bride.
This page has an "accordian" tag holder with four tags that can be used for pictures of the bride growing up = the future bride with notes of special memories.

This page is for the bride to add photos and journaling about her search for the perfect dress.

Interior of the "tag" shown above.
The adjoining page has a photo frame to put a picture of the bride in her "perfect" dress.
These two tags are for the mother-of-the-bride to write a note to her daughter and either, invite the mother-of-the-groom to write a note to her future daughter-in-law or to add a photo of the parents and bride.

Flip side of the above tags.

Documenting the bridal shower(s).  This pocket contains four large embossed tags for photos, journaling, "guest book" or space for the guests to write "advice to the bride".
 Tags.
An album-in-an-album.  This mini-book provides additional space for photos and journaling.

The last two pages contain photo frames for the bachelorette party.

 Back of book.
 Ribbon closure.
I also made the box to hold the book.

OUR HERO...............a new mini-album

Hi everyone,

It's been a couple of weeks since I posted but I have been busy working on several projects.  I just finished a mini-album titled "OUR HERO".  It will make a wonderful little book to acknowledge a verteran or current member of the armed services.  I will have this album for sale at "Wind Down Wednesday on Broadway" on Wednesday, July 18th, from 11am to 8pm.  I hope you will visit me.  I will be on the corner across from Sterlling Drug.

Here are some pictures of the mini-album.....................................

Cover:  I used the Victory paper packet from Close To My Heart for this mini.
These are the first two pages of the album.  Each page has a pocket that holds three picture mats each.  There is enough space on these two pages for at least 14 pictures or some of the spaces can be used for journaling.
First two pages with photo mats inserted.
Pages 3 and 4:  Page three has a side pocket with two photo mats.  Page four has three photo mats.  There is enough space for at least 13 photos or, again, some of the spaces can be used for journaling.
Pages 5 and 6:  Page five would be an ideal spot to do lots of journaling.  Page six again contains three photo mats creating enough space for at least seven more photos.  The entire album has enough photo spots for 34 photos!
Back of album.

The album measures 6" X 6.75".

I have also upcycled some composition books into beautiful journals.  I will get some examples posted in the next couple of days.  They, too, will be for sale at the WDW event.

Have a scrappin' good day!

A Brides Book..................

This is a scrapbook I created for my sister-in-law to give to her niece at a bridal shower.  I have searched YouTube and Etsy and have not found another book like this it.

The first picture is of the cover.  In with the ribbons on the binding are charms.  Each charm has a meaning.  The shoe = the brides preparations for the wedding; the heart=love; the butterfly=miracles; and the ring=promises.

The second set of pages contain a tag to write a note to the bride from the giver and on the facing page, titled  "The Future Bride" are six tags for pictures and journaling of the bride as you grew up .

The next set of pages and tags provides space for the bride to document her shopping for her gown and brides-maid dresses.  As well as any other preparations she would like to document.
Next are pages for the mother and mother-in-law to write notes to the bride.  In this case there is a step-mother-in-law so a tag was included for her as well.
The bridal shower is document in this set of pages.  Each page has a pocket containing six tags that were sent to the shower guests with the invitations.  They were asked to write something to the bride and bring it to the shower with them.  It was a hit!  One  of the large tags was the "guest book" .  Pictures could be added to the large tags.
The last set of pages were requested by my sister-in-law for pictures of the bachlorette party.
These are the tags that the guests filled out and the "guestbook".

THANKS FOR TAKING A LOOK!
